How It Works
Advent Search can be used by churches, faith organizations, and families. A registered Servant or approved adult guide sets up the Search so Searchers can open each day’s Calendar window, discover the Treasure, and follow the Riddle to the next day.
Searchers confirm their answer to Day 1’s Riddle to open December 2’s window on the Calendar, when they either enter the answer below Day 1’s Riddle, or find the Clue Card found near the object or subject described in the Riddle. That Clue Card can then be scanned by a mobile device to open December 2’s window on that device. The game continues thereafter with each new day’s window offering a Treasure and a Riddle.
Before December 1, the registered Servant prints the Clue Cards, places them near the appropriate objects, and guides Searchers with hints as needed throughout the Search.

Servant Registers & Sets Up the Game
A parent or adult (the “Servant”) registers on the site, sets up the game, and prints out Clue Cards to hide around the home by the appropriate objects before December 1.

Searchers Open the December 1 Window
On December 1, Searchers click the first Calendar window (or scan the Clue Card) to reveal the next day’s Treasure – Scripture, videos, quotes – plus the Riddle for the next day.

Solve the Riddle
When the Riddle’s answer is solved and the Riddle’s object or subject is found, the Clue Card hidden near it confirms the correct find, or a correct answer entered below the Riddle. Either method can be used to open the next day’s Calendar window.

Confirm & Continue Each Day
Each new day Searchers open the next Calendar window, reveal a new Treasure and Riddle, and the hunt continues — all the way to Christmas Day.

By Christmas Day, Searchers have experienced a month of discovery, reflection, and family bonding — making the season truly meaningful and memorable.

Two Roles - One Shared Spiritual Experience
The Servant
A registered adult — typically a parent, grandparent, teacher, or approved organization member — who sets up the game before Advent begins. The Servant prints the Clue Cards, hides them in the right locations, and provides hints to the Searchers as needed throughout the month.
The Searcher
Children, family members, or friends who participate in the daily hunt. Searchers open the calendar windows, discover each day’s Treasure, solve the Riddles, and search for the Clue Cards hidden by the Servant — building excitement and joy as Christmas approaches.
